Re: PORTING HEADS HP GAIN
Well.....from the flow figures listed your heads are pretty much done at 0.500" lift and you say your cam is 0.780" lift? There's a whole lot of power to be found in improving high lift flow figures in the heads from what I can see....434 cu/in motor? At least 75-100+ HP should be easily a...

Try CV Products the NASCAR parts house.....they should have rebuild parts for your pump.

Re: Do any of the shops here do lifter refacing?
Years ago when I had a shop recotour my 585 Chevy edge orifice solid lifters the guy recommended I go to a 100" radius from the GM 120" one....I called Bullet Cams to help me make my decision and Bullet said the guy was absolutely right in his thinking.

Re: Back when we had a choice..MSD or Mallory ignition products??
Personally, if it was not a very high power race engine, I preferred the Accel stuff if you simply need a great ignition and not all the other electronic type switches and features in the later units from just about everybody.. The Accel 300+ was a perfect ignition for most anything like that ... n...

If you want some cast aluminum with spring oilers built in....I just came across a set in my shop....$100 shipped? I know I paid far more for them when I bought them....I think they are CVproducts items....

Re: GM 19328743 LS9 [C6 Vette head]
I'm pretty sure that GM farmed out the CNC work to Ligenfelter.....it's pretty crude but does address the ports shortcomings profiling out the spring seat bump in the top of the port and exhaust ports are well done. The major shortcoming over a well done aftermarket CNC head is the failure to addre...

Re: Billet cam & distibutor gear
Don't try to run a oil pump with a composite gear! The GM "melonized" drive gear is a good piece or there used to be hybrid cam cores with billet lobes and cast iron gears made for a while....don't know if they are still done. The GM distributor gear can be bored out for a MSD 0.500" ...

Re: Angle milling benefit
Angle milling more than 1degree angle usually results in cylinder head fasteners binding in through holes and requires re spot facing the bolt pads in the heads to get them back to parallel......I think ARP still sells a stud set with 3/8" long reduced fastener sized studs to allow for through ...

Re: Super 7 retainers
Super 7 is the REAL DEAL for endurance race motors. My buddy who has forgotten far more than I will ever know and builds champion USAC Midget and V8 Sprint car motors that spin over 9000RPMs every event uses only Super 7 hardware in his builds and told me 10degree stuff doesn't have the "purcha...

I've now seen 2 mentions of the Melling M55 oil pump if you want a ordinary pump on a precision performance build be my guest...but, you obviously have no shop experience....I used to disassemble my M55's and do the whole Bill Jenkins (RIP) Chevrolet Racing Engine prep inside them....it all took tim...

Here this is the one.....I know you Stock Eliminator guys are all wound up over friction losses and other BS and this is advertised as 10% increased volume but this IS THE PUMP to run in a wet sump SBC.....drill some big leak holes in you oil galley plugs in the timing chain cover or call an oil co...
