Re: preventing fuel from boiling in the carb
Same problem here. Fixed by making and silver brazing a AN4 fitting on the secondary carb feed line. Put an orifice ( 6-32 brass set screw) in this fitting .040 to allow some fuel to recirc. to the tank. That feed line on the carb got hot and I believed it allowed fuel to percolate. After the modifi...

Re: Pump gas percolation carburetor
Gas only spurts from the primary shooters. Secondary's has a nice stream. Cracked the fuel line at the carb and gas sprayed. I don't know the carb, but find it strange that it's percing only on the primary side. I think you've got an acc pump problem. Check its check valve for debris. Good luck. I ...

Re: Pump gas percolation carburetor
X3 on the return line. I spent a number of years doing vehicle development and in our hot soak tests, a return line fed by a 0.040" orifice near the carb made a night and day difference. F-BIRD'88's seasonal fuel reference is also important. In the carburetor days, customer driveability compla...

Re: How to fix a crack in cast alu intake?
Not a big deal. Stick your grinder in the hole and go round and round until you have about .100 wall thickness. Cut and form a piece of 1/8'' metal to fill the hole. Have a TIG guy weld it for you and touch up with your grinder. It happens...be glad it's not iron!

Re: can a truck stop weigh your car
Not accurately. Find a bulk grain company and see if they would weight it for you. I believe they have to be within seven pounds by law. I remember a guy weighing at a sand and gravel pit....off 280 lbs. The car came in at 3150 for IHRA Prostock back in the mid 90's. Caused a BIG problem with the en...

About the stylus marring the bearing...that would not bother me at all, it is so slight it doesn't matter. Glad to hear you whipped that thing.

Are you setting the dial bore gauge to zero on the journal (using a mic) and then measuring the corresponding bearing? May make you feel a little better....

Re: Just made a sump. How do I seal the weld leaks?
That s the thing with wire feed welding a fluid vessel. The starts and stops can cause a slag pocket. With time and vibration the slag pocket cracks out and there's a leak. Been there and done that. Nice looking welds too, not to mention. Just the beast with wire feed welding. TIG is the way to go....
