Re: CRS syndrome

I spent way too long looking for a radiator cap last week after I topped off a car. I HAD IT IN MY HAND.

Re: Any Ford 300 six guys on board ??

Harry is describing the manifolds perfectly but these didn't have exhaust gaskets from the factory. Just the exhaust manifold bolted to the head. On older vehicles with cast iron manifolds any time I used the gaskets that came in the kit they ended up burning up and leaking.

Re: Any Ford 300 six guys on board ??

Separate the gaskets and only use the intake part. The exhaust gasket will shrink, the blow out, causing a leak. It's been years, but I've done a bunch of them.

Re: What causes this lifter wheel failure?

It looks like many lifters I've seen from GM LS engines with "active fuel management". I suspect the lifters bounce when they're de activated. For anyone who hasn't worked on any of these. The lifters are housed in a little plastic retainer. There's a spring that supposed to keep the wheel...

Re: SBC vortec distributor cap issues

The V-6's with a cap that looked like that had a recall to make sure the vent holes were open in the bottom of the distributor, replace the cap, and put a piece of insulation on the A/C line that ran right above the cap. I don't think there was such a recall on the V8's. I'd check and make sure ther...

Re: lean on both banks...1999 C2500 Suburban

So far I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, injector assembly, O2 sensors, I'm correct to assume you had the problem before replacing all of these parts? It's been a minute or 2 since I've worked on one of these. IIRC there used to be a BUNCH of wrong fuel pumps out there. (This is an "...

Re: Torque To Yield

Some bolts are "torque to yield", and some are "torque plus angle". They're both usually called torque to yield. The 2nd article Kevin linked mentions LS chevy engines. It states the head bolts can't be reused, but rod and main bolts can. The head bolts are true torque to yield, ...

Re: LS1 Running hot

2 things, you've probably got air, and like others said 215 isn't hot. Vacuum bleed the cooling system with a tool like this. It will get all the air out.

Re: New Old Cancer Cure?

Hey, what happened on the first page? A lot of posts seem to be missing. I was going to send this thread link to a friend that just got diagnosed with prostate cancer but the thread would make little sense to him without the missing posts. I believe the missing post were from a person who no longer...

Back on topic....In 1965 I started in building construction....Through the years I met tradesmen that had trouble dealing with a measuring tools marked in fractions, usually 1/16inch...Inability to calculate simple math is not something new....There's just more people and the Internet gives more op...

CBD oil

CBD oil was mentioned in another thread but I thought a new thread was needed. I have 2 conditions involving inflammation that flare up occasionally. (plantar fasciitis as well as a nerve impingement in my neck). I take 800mg ibuprofen 2 or 3 times daily when needed. I've heard that CBD oil is good ...

Re: Kobalt tools

I've commented in this thread but haven't mentioned Kobalt tools. I've had Kobalt tool boxes for the last ~20 years. When I started at a dealership in 1982 I bought the biggest Craftsman box I could afford. I added another Craftsman box a few years later. ~20 years ago I sold my old beat up Craftsma...

I believe Armstrong may be one of the best quality tools available. Does anybody know for sure where they are made ? I know that they are the hardest tools that i have tried to drill a hole in for hanging on a wall. Mark H. They were made in South Carolina by Apex Tools until March 31, 2017 when th...

Re: Nascar 550 hp limit ??

I only saw a few minutes of Atlanta since I was busy. It looked like a good race. They still have to lift in the corners so handling came into play. It wasn't the parade in formation that the big plate tracks are.
