Gage blocks wring together due to van der Waals forces; weak electric forces between molecules in close proximity.

I'd try Aluminum Bronze on AC.

Re: CamKing
Judging by some of the Rice Rockets in my town, someone's making a killing flashing ECUs to fart, pop, spit flames and generally run like crap at high RPM. #-o Not to get off topic but I've seen some of those guys complain about not being able to get the anti lag on an ECU to spit flames out the ex...

Our Belgian friend Yves has a V8 IR setup on EFI... he's probably a few hours from waking up right now!

Re: Raising runner, not short turn?
If you need more go ahead and cut it all the way and epoxy - I can weld it up with copper backing later no trouble. I've got the other head filled to the valve cover rail! How's thickness in the spring seat area? I'm guessing by doing it this way we're not getting it as thin as we would need to if w...

Re: Raising runner, not short turn?
You weren't lying on FB about it being epoxy week! Looks like I have enough weld in the other head to easily accommodate that port. What's it looking like on the flow/velocity front?

Re: Oldsmobile Hi-Swirl Head indentification Help
Late 80's 307 swirl port head ,junk, the better 7a head has the "a" smaller than the 7. Junk for a performance application, but they worked exceptionally well for what they were designed for. In a mid 80’s olds 88, 2.41’s and a 200R4 trans (!), 22mpg at 80 mph...best long distance road tr...

Re: Oldsmobile Hi-Swirl Head indentification Help
Late 80's 307 swirl port head ,junk, the better 7a head has the "a" smaller than the 7. That is definitely a 307 head, but as an FYI, there were 5A, 6A, and 7A heads that were cast for late 60s / early 70s 350s with the A the same size as the number. I have a set of the oddball 5A heads o...

Re: Seat and guide, vertical mill convesion
Rick, Gotta ask. Haimer versus what other tool? Anything that isn't an optical transmission automatic probe (Renishaw or equivalent)! :D Not only do they allow much faster (and foolproof) zeroing or stock/parts location than wigglers or touching off, but they also allow you to quickly map surfaces ...

Re: Seat and guide, vertical mill convesion
Job shops use aluminum fixturing all day long. It's cheap and it works great. Piles upon piles of soft jaws are out there holding a few ten thousandths every day.
Anyways, a Haimer 3D taster is the best investment I ever made for my Mill and VMC. It is a force multiplier!

Re: fabrication question
I know Mike is great with camshafts and far better than me with a lot of experience but I have never had good idle quality experience on an electronic EFI engine with an idle under 1000rpms with an LSA's below 110 degrees on cams with durations similar to yours. Some racers run this way but they ha...
