Re: Excessive oil pressure
Melling also offers a pump with helical gears for smoother oil flow and drive loads [which was their target], looking at the twist in their video they didn't go far enough from my experience to make much difference. And to answer the repeated question " Why High Volume" pumps are used, the...

Re: Buy a Racing helmet
Here's my advice. Don't buy a helmet just due to price. See where it's made, look at the reviews, and then TRY ALL THE ONES ON THAT YOU ARE LOOKING AT. Even the best helmet can't protect you properly if it doesn't fit right, and when they are uncomfortable that makes it worse . I've owned Racequip,...

What about Viking? They have nice looking shocks on-line, I haven't seen any that I know of anyway. Web page isn't my favourite arrangement.

Vega John, don't rule out anything! Check everything from the welds holding the tubes in the "Pumpkin" to the suggestions above. "You added power and now it steers" if I understand your remarks, that means something is no longer up to the task at hand and you need something more ...

Re: Engine Acceleration and Cam Timing
I will go with the lightest clutch assembly you can find. I've had engines on my run stand where of course you only have the flywheel on and the difference is night and day as far as throttle response without and with the clutch. Without the clutch it feels and sounds like a more radical engine! Ba...

Now I need a better pic of that fine "BowTied Beauty" in the background. I may be biased but that looks good what we can see! LOL! Harry

Re: What criteria determines a "press fit"?
Yeah it is just a little light reading, I have read whole books faster than finding some things in it, but there is knowledge there that motor heads, builders, and fixers of things, could take two or more lifetimes to just touch on. Harry

Re: What criteria determines a "press fit"?
n2xlr8n, you should get an edition of "The Machinery Handbook" [older one will be fine as not many of these sort of things change(d) over time, differences will be cutting speeds and feeds as improvements in cutter tech has evolved] there are many charts dealing with "fits" [no c...

Re: Problems at Pomona??
I know this is "Ancient" in terms of how internet posts go, but here are some thoughts I would like to share. I wholeheartedly agree that the track [or other noisy venue] was there first and that the buyer should have been aware! But form there the track can do some things right from their...

Ken we have an accent "Canuk"! I am surrounded by Americans on three sides here [about 75% American TV and Radio] and if I travel only 100 miles or so into the US I am identified as what I am, Canadian. Funny thing even if I travel 300 miles from home into Canada I am looked at quizzically...

The 4X4 Mag I read LOVE this company: Lee Manufacturing and I went looking for a web page but didn't find one. :( Also all I have read is Power Boxes no Manual mention. I do know someone that has used their service and he is vary happy with the results. Here are a few links of some relevance I found...

Re: Jay Leno crash in Hemi under Glass
Also notice Jay is holding the cage with his hand between the cage and "A" post that could have left him a "Lefty" in an instant, very lucky indeed. His hand let go [involuntarily I am sure] as soon as the flipping started. Goes to show that no matter how many times you go to the...

And not limit it to a V8, V8's are on the way out in the automotive world........... I've been hearing that since the mid '70s. Guess what!? V8s are still here. Your point is taken though. It would be nice to see some 6 and 4 cyl. builds but I doubt they would generate much interest. Ken I am not s...

Re: Metal shavings
Don't laugh till you try this, but an old machinist remedy is to sand the affected area with 40 to 60 grit sand paper. My work environment has changed over the years and as such my skin isn't as tough as it used to be! So for my 4>10 slivers a week I do use 180G emery and then Shave across the nub ...

Re: titanium pushrods
Thanks for the feed back guys the stuff on the MX pushrods does indicate some real benefits to having things lighter on the lifter side, also why would we bother to use rev kits if dynamics on that side of the valve train were unimportant? Len C One of the reasons for a "Rev-Kit" is to ke...
