Roll Center - Pavement Late Model

Hello everyone: I am hoping there are a few circle track racers here that can assist me with re adjusting the front roll center of my car. It is an older offset chassis with a Howe fab (LLM) big spring front clip. I have just started to learn about all the suspension settings and I have been told th...

Bubstr:
I am learning about the dynamic effects that the front alignment has on the car in the corners, and what can be changed to tune a car for a particular situation.
Thanks for the input.

Pavement Late Model Caster Recomendation

Good morning, everyone; I just added power steering to my pavement late model and I am looking for suggestions for a good starting point for caster. It was set at 1 positive on the LF, and 2 degrees positive on the RF. Am I correct in thinking if I increase the caster some it will provide better fee...

Lift Rule Cam Choices

Hello everyone: Our track has opened up the cam rules for 2008 and I would like some of your valuable input on my choices. Here is some background. 350cid, 882 heads, flat tops, all stock, Q jet carb, iron intake and exhaust, 1.5 rockers, automatic trans(TH350) turning 6000 RPM in a Monte Carlo on a...

Well, I know of one NHRA record (both ends) that was set by a car with an oversized engine and the tester didn't catch it.
I knew as soon as I posted my story, someone would have one like this

We had good luck with the Mr. Gasket tester at our oval track. It proved to be within a few percent every time it was used. It is very simple to use, you just remove the rockers for the cylinder you are testing, attach the tool to the spark plug hole, set the piston in the tool down, and crank the e...

The 604 is the 350CID, 400HP small block commonly used in late models. http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/EngineShowcase/index.jsp?engId=CT350400&engine=CT%20350%20400&sku=88958604&engCat=racing They have been totally reliable at our 1/4 mile oval, winning the championship last year and a...

You'd probably have alot of fun though That is really the whole intention. I know that I would not be competitive, but I sure would have a grandstand full of happy sponsors. By the way, the crate we use is the 604 not the 602. They have been the track champs here for two seasons against some stout ...

Thanks for the info. We were just kicking tires... thinking about a one off road race for sponsor exposure with no regard for actually being competitive. I am sure that a proper road race car would have many more advantages over a 10 year old offset late model than just the engine.
Thanks again

To clarify what got a few of us talking about this... There are a few high profile road races in our area that would be excellent exposure for our sponsors. (TV coverage) Our late models would be legal in the GT-1 class. They may not be ultra competitive, but the exposure far out weighs where we may...

Road Racing a Crate Engine

Hey everyone: As the topic suggests, I am interested in opinions about road racing the crate engines like the GM 604. Is anyone doing this anywhere? Is the oil pan considered an oval track only design, or could it work turning right as well? Aside from adding a good road race pan, does anyone forese...

S 10 trucks and Z28 Camaro springs are considerably stiffer than stock and will help as well. Maliburacing.com had a great tech area that had a listing of all the MOOG replacement springs, their rates and what they came from. Very helpful. I used a 1 1/4" sway bar on my Cutlass with good result...

I would increase the LR to 200 to help the loose off. Check the pinion angle, if the top arms are stock, it will be way off. We shortened the upper arms about one inch and re drilled the holes, then trimmed the ends to make them look untouched. 8) About 2-3 degrees down worked well on our car. Remov...
