Re: DV - need intern to help out wih project backlog.
I am sure that most of you now know I am on the recovery side of a near fatal brain operation. I am making very good progress for a 76 year old but my ability to do what I have to do to meet deadlines better is seriously compromise. What I am looking into here is the possibility of getting some Cha...

Re: Piston shape and detonation.
So talking about flame travel wouldnt it be better with the design of the pistons larry made? Just looking at what ive seen (which i know is not a scientific test) with the pistons and what not, it would seem you could get the best of everything with design. 1. Higher compression becuase of dome on ...

Piston shape and detonation.
So ive spent the last few days going over what i could find on the internet and what few papers i have on the stuff and ran across the "super squish" pistons that Larry Widmer( "oldone" on the fourm i believe) developed. From what i researched, it seems as if it started with nasc...

I6 ford questions palooza
Well got an interesting project put on my table today, brother in law got a 67 mustang with a 200 i6 engine (7 bolt main) and him being 16 wants a little bit of power without spending very much. I already trade my work on car for him doing work for me around my house and yard work so my labour isnt ...

Madbill after reading what you said i would have to agree with what you said, who would bother to lighten tool steel to this level when theres better stuff.

Re: Maraging steel retainers use
Got retainers today, they were made by del west and they dont weigh but 12.7 grams on my scale super thin to where it would sit on spring. Any good way to know if these are maraging? 1.230 od .680 id.
If theyvare just thinned down retainers for a cup emgine id be weary of using them.

Re: Maraging steel retainers use
I talked to friend today, said he has always thought they were maraging steel, said they weigh under 13 grams each, size is 1.230"x .680. Said he got them from Childress racing. What else other than maraging steel could it be? He said it is a steel and not titanium

Maraging steel retainers use
Hi everyone, got a set of retainers on the way from a friend of mine. Turns out they are maraging steel retainers from a cup engine from what he told me and they run top lock keepers. Did a little digging (aka typed the keywords into google) And found out they are lighter than the titanium retainers...

Re: 3/8” or 7/16” rocker studs?
The rocker studs flex. The flexing causes a loss of lift & duration. If the flexing is bad enough &/or the stud quality poor, the studs can & do break.... So use the thickest studs you can, made of the best steel. I often fit washers under the studs where practical, between the stud's h...
