Induction Designer at Holley
Guys, Please take a look at the following job opportunity: http://www.holley.com/Corporate/Employment.asp?jobID=136 Holley has great CAD designers. For some of you experts that may not be CAD experts, but be savvy with intake design, casting design, etc, this may be a great opportunity as you would ...

Re: Rod Stretch vs Torque
I think the answer is this: As far as I understand, the stretch specs given get the bolt pretty close to plastic deformation. Getting close to this maximizes the clamping force available for a particular fastener, going over of course can be disaster. Most people don't have a stretch gauge. Most peo...

Re: BLP CARB SHOOTOUT Your input please !
That would be tough, it would take at least a day for them to hook up their system, and another to get a rough calibration... I certainly am not going to claim EFI "makes more power than a carburetor" because that is not black and white and has a lot of variables, but I would pu...

Re: Maximum Timing Retard with Nitrous
I'm not the expert, but a small chamber designed for max effort NA applications may be too sensitive for nitrous. Knowledgable nitrous head guys can modify the chambers to be "less sensitive" for nitrous.

Re: New battery in, still will not run.
Yep, don't overcomplicate it. You need fuel and spark at the right time. Check spark with a timing light cranking and check the fuel with a noid light. If it runs on starter fluid you likely have spark. If you don't have a noid light, check for 12v at the injectors while cranking first then get a no...

Re: Mechanical Engineer vs UPS driver. yeah.. you read it right.
Most Engineering jobs "don't use math all day". Most "math" is done by the computer, but you need to understand what is going on. YOu certainly DO use it all the time getting the degree. I wired a race car all day Friday and was done chassis dynoing it 2am Sat. Was at the track a...

Re: looking for a job.....
So I shouldn't even think about a job like that, it pays well but you learn nothing? I need a financial boost first! Anyone looking for someone to work for them in about 4 years? :) University, that I know of, At least I can't find any performance related courses, Don't get me wrong mechanical engi...

Re: looking for a job.....
Lot of good advice in this thread. It is rare to find a person in the aftermarket industry that has an Engineering degree AND is TRULY very hands on. Truly hands on doesn't mean you swapped a carb on your buddies car once upon a time or you ruined a set of heads with a die grinder once. It means you...

Re: Why are carbs still use in racing if F.I. is so much better
Part of the deal with EFI not being used in a lot of drag racing applications is a lack of knowledgable tuners. There just aren't that many out there. People are just plain scared of the "unknowns" about it. Its operation is actually pretty simple. You also have to install it properly, aga...

Any link by chance or know about when it was discussed? Did a seach and didn't find it.JCR wrote:There is a thread on efi101.com disussuing the use of a pressure chamber and various coils. Also of interest was a side discussion of plug boot design and electrical leakage as chamber pressures went up.

Re: Coil on Plug versus MSD 8
I have bench tested various igntion systems by firing the plugs into a pressure chamber for about 25 years. I can tell you that pressure testing an ignition system reveals a whole bunch of warts and pimples. If you can, hook up a scope to observe the spark lines. Good work and keep us posted on you...
