Re: new 434 combo HP predictions
Just curious Joe, do you have a bunch of guys working for you, or is it just you? Or a few guys?

Re: Dyno Outline
The most I have done on one day, was 3 intakes, 2 sets of headers, 2 carbs, and a higher ratio set of intake rockers. It was a long day. But, accomplished in about 8 hours with help. The dyno guy and the owner of the engine who was also good with a wrench. Oh, we also moved the Jesel belt around 3 o...

Re: Well I guess this is one way to open up the pinch
Some of the baddest ass SBC's were Crowers in the late 60's early 70's for indy. They were banned. They basicaly blocked off the whole intake port from the opening side, bored a hole next to the ex port, on the ex side, and ran an injector and stack on that side. They used the stack to tune the leng...

What about LS stuff that has 8mm rocker bolts? They seem to hold up.

Still have the block? Is it new, or used? Standard bore, blown up, etc. Thanks

Re: Head port work
The guy in my example above, had $850 into his, and it made 20 more than a set of afr's. He already owned them. Is that a good or bad deal? Oh, and the AFR engine was 13:1 vs 11:1. Same dyno

If they have max wedge as cast ports, it needs offset rockers. If its a standard port opening, straight rockers are what you need.

Re: Pulling Timing
I should add, you don't pull the timing the whole run. For example, 632, big chief deal, cast single carb naturaly aspirated, stock suspension, drag radial tire, we will pull 10 degress for like 1.5 seconds. It will leave decent, 1.28 60 ft, but go low 8's at 165+. This is in a 89 Mustang at 3350lbs...

Re: Pulling Timing
Typical, we use those boxes to pull timing on the starting line, to get stock suspension and limited tire cars with big power to leave the starting line, and or to stop the cars from wheeling to hard. And it works. One pass it leaves dragging the bumper, pull some timing, and it leaves like a wet noo...

Re: building a 496 and need to talk cams.

Re: Head port work
We just did a 396 sbc for a street rod, fairly stout piece, 250ish solid roller, Weiand street tunnell ram and 2 600's, for the look, pump gas, Edelbrock Performer RPM's that I did a fairly extensive port job, but not maxed to the moon and a 2.055 intake valve, 1 3/4 header, made 575 hp and 545 ft/l...

Re: Lifter Choice
Don't sweat the lifters with that cam and spring. Its nothing more than a glorified hydraulic roller set up to run lash. For every horror story, keep in mind, there are 1000 success stories that you never hear about. I have seen and or heard of every brand of lifter going away. Just recently, a loca...
