Re: what spring for this cam?
With a light valve like 80 to 90 grams your spring choice should work well. Heavy valves, RPM, quick ramps on camshafts, and acceleration kill valve springs. We check our valve spring pressure between rounds on our hotrod. At .800 lift we run a installed height 2.080" @ 340lbs on the seat and 9...

Re: Valve springs for given camshaft.
When you do not have enough seat pressure and not enough pressure on the nose you beat up the keepers and the valve stem grove. I do enough valve jobs to see the effects. When I see the heads you can't get the valves out of the heads until you take a fine file to the top of the grove. It really beat...

Re: non relieved cam
Camshaft flex has always been a problem....removing the oil pump off the back of the cam has helped, non-relieved cams have helped. Going to 55mm and 60mm cam have also been a big help. I run a big block cam with 1 inch lift that has 465 psi on the seats and 1300 psi on the nose I am sure even with ...

Re: BBC Oiling system for enigne mounted backwards.
Avaid and Doolie have been making pans for reverse mounted motors in boats for 40 years. The jumping 15 feet in the air would concern me. you might also put a accumalator on the oil system for insurance.

Re: Use Denature alcohol in Al.injector ??
The bad stuff is parts/million, The main problem is finding 100%, the drug store stuff is only about 70% with the rest being 30% water. I used to get my ethanol out at Kaiser Steel they used it to clean oak molds that used in the foundry. At 100% it sure was a good octane booster.

Re: Multiple back-cuts on intake valve?
All performance valve jobs I do have 30 degree back cuts if the seat is greater than .06 and .08 thou. I spent countless hours in Kay Sissells head shop in South El Monti, trying to learn what went into a good valve job.

Re: Cost of Nitrous
In one of our dragboats we were using a fogger system and .018 no2 jets times 8 in the foggers. We were using aprox. 1/2 pound of no2 per 1000' pass. When we went to 150 shot were using at least 1 pound per pass. So at 1/2 pound per pass 6 seconds is about $2.50 per pass. We maintained a bottle pres...

Re: How to reduce valve tip sweep pattern. Help?
Randy the larger the lift is the more sweep you will have even when you have every thing correct with push rod length. I like to be in the middle of the of the valve as possible when at the higher lifts. There is a point where you will be pulling your hair out with sweep values and pushrod lengths.

I just had a sleeve replaced in my all aluminum DRCE, Rick Waters machine shop in Phoinix Az said that they put the block in their parts washer and got the block up to about 200 degeees and the sheeve came out with no problem. Then they miked it up and had LA sleeve build them a new one to match the...

As long as they are not damaged I would not even think twice about using them.
