P.S. the car sees nitrous from time to time anywhere from 150 to 400 shot so the rings are gapped on the loose side.

Re: Oil capacity
Sorry for the late reply and thank you all for helping me. The car is a stroker 396ci max rpm of 7500 but will be setting it up for 8000. Bearing clearance are standard oem. Pan has a windage tray and can handle a 4" stroke. The car is not street driven much at all, so is more of a strip car. I...

Oil capacity
LT1 GEN 2 engine takes 4.5 to 5 quarts of oil from factory.
I now have a stroker pan milodon pn # 30909 which holds 6 quarts of oil.
Question is:. Do I still use 4.5/5 quarts of oil with new pan or do I go to 6 quarts?
P.s. I also have a hi volume oil pump.

Re: scratched piston
Thank you for your help guys.
Now im more comfortable in running it after reading what to do and knowing that nothing bad will happen. Very gentle buff/sand and clean up is the key word here. got it.

Re: scratched piston
The scratches have no sharp edges but they concern me, yet I have no time nor funds this year to replace the piston, I wish I knew that I could have cut the rivet off. If I run it like that can it create heat spots that can eventually melt the piston?. For now it will be run on motor but eventually ...

scratched piston
While opening the motor plate with a drill for the head gasket to fit properly,(check picture), I got careless and badly scratched the top of the piston because it was on tdc #-o . My question is, can I run it like that or does it have to be replaced? http://i63.tinypic.com/2ninnus.jpg http://i68.ti...

Re: SBC Cylinder Bore Markings???
I did not put this motor together but I did take it apart. I don't remember exactly which bore # were the ones showing just about the same amount of scuffing as pistons but there were about three sets of them in that condition. That block will not be used again but I still needed to know the quality...

Re: SBC Cylinder Bore Markings???
Car did overheat at least 8 times and I mean 240+ before I got a handle on its cooling problem (LT1). Piston to wall clearance was .0040 this was a nitrous build. Is the scuffing bad???

SBC Cylinder Bore Markings???
What would cause the cylinder bores on the driver side to show those markings (circled in red) more than the other side???What are those marks exactly??? what kind of stress makes those markings or is it related to final assembly??? Is it a normal wear pattern??? Engine build was fairly new less tha...

Re: 23* heads power
rocketracer380 You said it yourself, they are different type of heads for different applications; maybe you have a different point of view or question other than what has been clearly stated already and you would like to share/ask.

Re: 23* heads power
"Single digit means 9's.. High 9's means 580-625 hp."
I think you can do that with standard port 23* heads.

Re: 23* heads power
If its a 23* head, it ran no better or worse than a nicely setup 23* vehicle, so yes that is good in my world.
