Re: dart 227 cnc head capability
I can share what my combo has done...May not be the best but... 2870 lbs ran 5.99@112 to the 1/8th and not to potential yet. It also ran 6.13@110 @ 3050 lbs.
Still working on it. I was told 700hp or so capable. My combo is a 422, tunnel ram, alcohol injected in an S10.

Re: Exhaust Chirp
Another twist to the "Chirp" It has a nice Chirp when cold and after warming up it really mellows down to no real chirp. Any idea's?

Re: pro topline 285 14 degree heads
Definatly need a bigger Carb to feed that engine. Cam will need to be pretty large as well. What will the compression be? What is the intended use of the engine? How hard do you want to revv it?

Re: Intake Flow
Thanks Joe, I kinda figured that. I am trying to understand how much one head, intake anc cam combo will change the engines output. Seems like I will be using 12 or so more CFM as far as the heads are conserned but swapping out the old super victor to a tunnel ram should help it as well. The camshaf...

Intake Flow
Hey Guys just wondering what you have been seeing on flowing a head with the intake bolted on a single plane to a tunnel ram? I would think the drop would be much less, but not sure. I know the overall system has to work together. I am trying to see what gains in head flow I would see by going from ...

Re: Exhaust Chirp
No EFI here. I was running a single Rons flying toilet on a Super Victor intake and went to this Edelbrock Victor Ram with 2 Flying Toilets. It is Mechanical Fuel Injection. The sound is not a whistle it is a distinct Exhaust Chirp. I will try to get a video over the weekend.

Re: Exhaust Chirp
No titanium valves, 800-1000 idle speed last time I had it running. The cam is not wide lobe either.

Re: Exhaust Chirp
It won't be the exhaust because i have been running it for a few years and not had the sound. The 2 things that could effect if are the camshaft and adding a Tunnel Ram. Tunnel ram does not seem likey, so I think the camshaft. I read thru some of the other post from the link and sounds like it might...

Exhaust Chirp
Can anyone give a good explanation on what makes an engine have that sound? I finally have it but have changed the whole top end including camshaft. I think it comes from the overlap and exhaust lobe or closing rate. I am not sure just guessing.

Re: 421 sbc cam and combo help
What is the MPH? Something seems off to me. My 421 @2815 Lbs will still run 6.19 with a 1.32-134 sixty foot with a glide.
There has to be something really killing it. I would not think the cam to be the only factor.

Valve Lash
I know valve lash gives your valvetrain room to expand and contract I guess... I would like to know more about it.
Some say .020 some say .015 but there is only about .004-5 difference between hot and cold lash..so why do you need so much?

Re: Just lost a bearing in new engine.
Were the turbos new? I have read that you should not break in a new engine with the turbo's hooked up. That the engine needs the oil to break in, instead of sharing it with the turbo. Just a thought. Sounds like either way it needs to come out..

Was the track prep that bad the last race? Compared to the Race 2.. Something is odd here.
