Engine braking with forced induction

Hey guys, Having been on the forum for a while, been busy. Had a quick question, I did a search and didn't find exactly what I was looking for. If a previous topic exists feel free to direct me to it and I will read it thoroughly. Is engine braking bad after a hard pull with forced induction? The ap...

For sale: Last of the 4.6 P.I. 2 valve engines, turn-key

I have a few engines for sale that are new 2010 Crown Victoria 4.6 2 valve engines with P.I. heads. They are turn key with wiring harness, all accessories including AC and they have the serpentine belt. You would likely need to use your existing wiring harness, intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds...

Re: Flat plane crank and intake manifold design

JS, thanks for the reply and yes, you're correct the 928 does have a cross-over channel. However, I was not able to see one in the LSX video. I think your reference to the engine size is in reply to some comments in the GT350 crank thread regarding vibes associated with larger displacement engines. ...

Re: Flat plane crank and intake manifold design

So, after seeing that the GT350 Mustang crank design is getting so much attention on this forum and the responses are quite enlightening from members more intelligent than myself I wanted to bump this thread and see if someone can explain to me a little more about the success beyond Tom Nelson's twi...

Re: Show us your Race Car(s)

Love the pics guys! Here is my street sleeper. An '08 Bullitt with a stock outward appearance with drag radials and a small roots blower under the hood.

Re: Flat plane crank and intake manifold design

I am surprised this particular engine performed so well with a 90 degree crank and twin plenums: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElDfKnmLf3w

I wonder why more people aren't doing this. What exactly is the down side to having uneven firing from bank to bank with split plenum? Reversion?

Tom Nelson Q and A

Neat little Q and A with Tom Nelson. Pretty basic and straight forward, it was meant for the masses. None the less, I found a couple of things interesting... I had never considered main bearing wear on large roots style blown motors to be attributed to belt harmonics. Now, I have seen #1 upper main ...

Re: need opinions on top piston ring problem

DCAL and Kevin,

I am afraid it is going to be one or both of these issues you both mention. I will post more when I have a definitive answer. Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, you're right it's definitely a lot. It's necessary in order to hit my target blow-by number for this particular test.

Re: need opinions on top piston ring problem

There looks like a crack at the nasty step in the ring land. That ring looks like it butted a bit. Do the rings get twisted on when assembled - looks like a spring washer -, or ring pliers. RL, Thanks for the response. The gap on the top ring is suppose to be .070" and they are required to use...

Re: need opinions on top piston ring problem

Could be a ring quality problem, try a different brand of ring and substitute steel, instead of ductile iron, for the top ring material. Second ring gap may be a little excessive. Depending on your bore diameter, a .003" to .005" larger gap for the second ring should be sufficient. Also l...
