Four bolt main SBC?

Post by Walline »

I am sure this has been asked more then a few times, but I searched and could not find it. I am going to build a combo, around a procharger D2R. Was planning on doing a BBC, but I really don't want to rebuy, all the SBC parts I could run. My delima is, If I have to spend $2000.00 on an aftermarket block, I think I will switch to BBC. But if I can get away with using a factory, 4 bolt 350 block, I would stay SBC. I do not think I want to spend the money on a factory block to splay it!
(I would go aftermarket). So, will a four bolt 350, with good studs, hold up to say 900 plus HP. The car would only go to the track a few times a year. Very little use. To my amazment, quite a number of people, have told me it would be fine, but I am unsure. Just looking for people who have done it! THANKS!!

We do a lot of spalyed cap 010 blocks for engine builders and machine shops all over the country and with 4 billet caps and and a strap on the rear main we only rate these at around 600 horse and before we install main caps we sonic test the cylinders before we start anything.

Here is a pic of a block we rate at under 600 horse.

I have a new Dart Little-M block with Nodular Iron caps 9.000 deck, Blue print bored and plate honed to 4.125, line honed to 2.6415, lifter bores finished to .8443 cleaned ready to go for 2295.00 and shipped free in the U.S. and this bolck Dart claims is good for 900 horse.

This is the last one I have at this price.
