Which heads?

Im just curious as to which heads you guys would run. Im building a 496 that will see peak hp between 6500-7000. I have 2 sets of heads here that flow pretty close to one another but have different size runner (the bigger runner head does flow about 10cfm more). The first set has 2.170 intake valves and the area over the short turn is about 3.15 and the area at the pushrod pinch is about 3.23. The second set of heads have a 2.20, short turn area is 3.25 and pushrod pinch is 3.23. The exhaust is the same on both.

I'm curious, how did you measure the areas?

Port molds and then cut them up and measured the areas that way.

Would like more information on the heads you have and your whole combination to make a better determination on cylinder heads for your combo. Thanks

It is a big block Mopar with 440-1 heads. Cam is 264* @.050 and.694lift, L/S is 112. Head flow is:

I did a 493 chrysler about 2 months ago and with 440-1 heads and it made 725 hp on pump gas . I ported the heads and they flow about what you have for the smaller valves but mine was with 2.190 valves and the lift was up to .750 . It was a little pita not going turbulent at those hight lift . Well , the cam was a solid roller 270/280 at .050 , .750/.735 lift , 112 lobe sep ( installed at 112 intake centerline ) . It made peak power at 6900 and made over 600 ft/lbs of torque at 4900 rpm .
