Q on ring seating
With no dyno available to utilize for break-in...how many passes down the quarter-mile would one recommend before switching to a synthetic oil?

I agree, if they were using an AN type hone, you will never get a round cylinder. The AN hones will tend to follw the irregularities in the bore and load the other side and in some case can actually make them worse. I would think with a good hone and ring prep/ good pistons you shouldn't have that much trouble breaking in those rings. What were your gaps? Did you check the oil ring fit also? I have seen the wrong expanders come in ring sets that leave way too much oil on the walls to let the rings seat.headman wrote:What machine was used to hone the cylinders?
