Ball heads with lower guide support FOUND!

Post by airflowdevelop »

Regis shop supplies is stocking ball heads with the lower guide support (T&S design). You can purchase these at any Regis distributor (although the only one I know of is Mansfield Shop Supplies).

Thanks

Thanks Dennis ,

i'll purchase a few before or in case they decide to change design ?? :)

the only potential problem with "lower-support" is when you need
to mill valve job for smaller diameter Exhaust/Intake Valves
then the inner portion of Profile Cutter may interfere with lower support
....on a few i've had to modify the inner side to gain enough clearance
between the lower support and the bounce spring coils.

I had trouble with my exhaust cutters hitting bounce spring. I made an aluminum bushing that sits on the spring (you may use a shorter spring) and is turned down at the top to fit my newen cutters. It nice because you can go a lot smaller.

I get my Regis stuff through Jan Navarre (I'm in Michigan, she's in the Detroit area). Her # is 248-941-4433. She is VERY helpful.

BTW, she's the brunette modeling the t-shirt and coat on the back page (inside) of the catalog.

I buy regis from regis directly. They have been easy to deal with.

Are you saving money buying regis somewhere else ???

Okay, Curtis, spill the beans. What should we look out for when dealing with Mansfield?

I haven't dealt with them, but have talked with many who have and they all seem to regret dealing with them. One purhased a $25K machine and the dropped it off and left. Also I have heard of slow service.
Again, I have not dealt with them.

I made a appoitment one time to see a piece of equipment at there shop. I got there and there was no-body around.....

The guy that grinds my cranks bought what was described as a cherry grinder from them. They dropped it off and it was all rusted and missing parts. They did give him a bit of money back but nothing to speak of....

I have herd other stories but they are the only 2 i can prove....

It is true, be very careful dealing with them, I lost MANY THOU$SAND$ over a brand new crank grinder that was no good and sat in my shop for over a year during the legal process that ensued. This was almost 10 years ago but I don't think anything has changed! A few people in the machine sales business from down south where they are from don't have much good to say about them either.

It is against my grain to post any details bad about someone here as well but that one hurt so bad that I don't want anyone else to go through the same !
