Recommend me a set of Heads and an intake manifold.

Post by mrkma »

Will be getting my 383 stroker back from the machine shop in a couple weeks and it's time to buy some heads. The rotating assembly consist of a Scat 4340 forged crank with a 3.750" stroke, 5.700" 4340 forged I-beam rods , and forged aluminum flat top pistons. I will get a custom grind cam after I pick out my heads.

This engine will be 60% strip 40% street , but I would lean more towards a strip recomendation than a street recommendation. Looking for aluminum heads and intake on a $1,800 or less budget. Trying to make 450hp on 93 octane . Will likely go with a 750 or 850 Holley Carb.

I would use a Eldebrock Air Gap Intake on your engine combo. These intakes run very well up to 6800 RPMs. Good Street and strip intake manifold. You will want a set of heads with hardened seats or unleaded fuel. Lots of good head options out there. New or used? You can find some nice heads on ebay for your budget. 1.94 intake valve head will work just find.

Does your 60 percent street involve cold winter driving? Air gap manifolds can be pretty rude below 50 degrees.
So much to do, so little time...

AFR 195, and either a victor jr or an rpm air gap. depending on cam and compression, it wont be too difficult to make a very streetable 450hp from your 383. if you might want more in the future, then consider the AFR210's.

I live in south Texas so the answer is no to the below 50 degrees driving :D

Brodix dragon slayer heads and holley 300-25 intake with a solid roller cam and morel solid roller bushing lifters. Exact combo I run. I can post my bullet cam card later if you would like to see what they ground for me. I run 93 pump but make much more than 450hp. My car is mostly street driven.

I was thinking AFR 210's and an Air-Gap. I have this set-up on my 400SBC and it runs, very, very, well(even with a Quadrajet). Plus, it gets 22MPG with overdrive.

Safe to say that this would be a good set of heads to go with?

Without knowing rear gear, stall, transmission gearing, and vehicle weight how can anyone give a serious recommendation?

Chad, that would be so much better with an Air Gap manifold. LOL

Heaven forbid we ask how tall the tire is as well.
