Today I was trying to tune my EFI system, which uses a MSD 8366 distributor (VR sensor). At 5000 rpm the engine stops revving, and it seems like I'm hitting a revlimiter, where there is none.
From what I've read so far, megasquirt seems to have an issue with high rpm and VR-sensor, causing the tach signal to drop out.
A Hall effect ignition would be better in this respect. Is there a system that can adapted for a SBC generation 1 ?
Thanks

Does this pop up on the MSD 8366 more often ? I seem to find info on the internet stating it does. Something about the ecu not receiving a tach signal anymore.
Is the GM small cap HEI for TPI cars better ?

If you don't need to control timing, you can install an MSD box and run the fuel injection on the tach signal. It could at least help you figure it out, if there is one available nearby for some testing.

Ok, this took me a long search, but I've found the issue.
I had a limit set on the rpm gauge on tunerstudio and it worked as a revlimiter. Set it high enough and could rev above 5000 rpm.

If it's a small 302 engine you have there, apparently you will be safe to set the limit to around 10 - 12,000 rpmBelgian1979 wrote:Ok, this took me a long search, but I've found the issue.

I'm glad if I can reach 7000 without the power falling off.lada ok wrote:If it's a small 302 engine you have there, apparently you will be safe to set the limit to around 10 - 12,000 rpmBelgian1979 wrote:Ok, this took me a long search, but I've found the issue.
