034 bowties and 25534371 vortec bowties

I scored a pair of 034 bowties, and 25534371 vortec bowties. Do the vortec bowties be used with a standard domed piston for any 23 degree head, or do they require special pistons. The 034's will accept an standard domed piston? Also was there a couple different versions of these heads, if so how do I tell what version they are? Thank YOu

BTTT, I have a pair of 034's I need to do something with, was there an important design change on these at some point?

Some of the earlier V/B 371 castings did have some cracking issues on the outside of the head casting. And those heads require a special done.

Those also have a D-shaped exhaust port as well.

The later 034 Bowties have a machined area, (as opposed to a casting line), running the length of the centerline of the exhaust ports. I think there is more water jacket area as a result. Thee chambers are 64 cc as opposed to 67 cc for the older ones. The difference is the removal of a bevel on the spark plug side of the chamber. They need to be at least pocket ported to wake them up.

I RAN A 406 WITH STOCK TYPE DISHED PISTONS, MILD CAM, VORTEX HEADS, INTAKE FROM A 305 BOAT ENGINE IN A 2750 LB CAR USING 91 OCTANE GAS. THE CAR NEVER RAN CONSISTENTLY BETWEEN 10.50 IN COLD WEATHER AND 10.59 IN HOT WEATHER SHIFTING AT 5800 RPM. IT NEVER VARIED MORE THAN TWO THOUSANDS FROM FOUR IN THE AFTERNOON UNTIL 1 AM.
