New cast iron 392 block?

Post by dragracer300 »

I seen a year or so ago that Gene Adams was working on a new improved cast iron 392 hemi block for the nostalgia racers. Anyone know if this was ever finished and if it is available?
Thanks

The Hot Heads site did not show any info about the new block yet.

Did find this article

Yes A/ND..

We are getting reading to rewrite the record we already hold.

Everything was made in house, including the pistons.

Only two engines like this exist, both in the same house.

It's evil.

You can't run a scoop.

Here is a pic of the engine that hold the A/ND record..

I believe the one pictured is the B/ND engine because of the smaller injector diameter required!

That type of injector was blowing back (fuel standoff) until they found the correct cam to discourage that and it obviously ran better!!!

No, they both are A/ND, both 3.150 injectors. The Chevy is a 14 degree RHS. You can only run a raised runner 23º in B/ND. The Hemi would work for both A and B/ND. But the engine in the frame rails is a A/ND engine.

To the OP, the last I had heard, there were still some casting/core shift problems with the new blocks.

I talk to Gene on a regular basis. The core boxes are getting worked on again since a portion kept floating causing thin areas in the lifter valley. There has been 3 unsuccessful attempts at casting this new block so far. Hoping within the next 6 months another try after the adjustments.

Side note I'm nearly done with a new single plane intake for the Early Hemi. Should work out pretty nice. Will work out nice with the CNC programs I have developed for the factory iron heads and the Hot Heads castings.
