Need 454 stock length connecting rods after market?
Does anyone make a 454 stock lenghth connecting rod thats a press fit close to stock weight? I need a set for an industrial engine
Re: Need 454 stock length connecting rods after market?
what problem are you trying to solve drifter?
In most cases rebuild stock with new bolts and you are good to go, given rpm most industrial run
I sidegrind and mag I do not think shoot peen would be necessary In your case
BTW what fuel, heads, compression, pistons?

They will be quite a bit lighter than factory.

I've used scat- they should be fine
have you weighed the stock rods big and little ends and the pins, since I take it they burned up also or was it just the big ends
if they are heavy you can balance if lighter you are sol unless it's the small end where you could use a heavier pin
BVVC with any other off shore rods

Might consider hunting up a good set of "thumb-rods" out of a P/U engine.
They are some stronger than the car engine rods, imho.
You tell them by the fact that your thumb will fit in the sides of them just above the big end.

stay away from caps with angle cut parting faces
some rebuilders angle cut to make the parting line squeeze in narrower before boring or honing to size
but it puts additional strain on the bolts

way to go drifter
put the parting lines on a flat plat and make sure they are not angle cut
check for taper, bow etc
side grind you can do yourself and mag is inexpensive
if no shotpeen at least wheelbrate
