controlled valve motion vs max area under the curve

Post by joe »

Does anyone account for flow curve and piston position or anything else when having a cam ground ? I'm not talking about the timing events either .I mean the ramp rates .
Do you feel that just buying a cam with max area under the curve would get you 90% of the way too a really trick grind ? less ? more ?
Any thoughts are welcome .
Don what have you learned that was most surprising when using a cam doctor ?

Cam Doctor - Camdoctor

Post by speedtalk »

It's funny you asked this question, next weeks column is about the Cam Doctor. I'd say the amount of data it spits out was the most surprising. As for picking ramps, it's all about your valvetrain and the RPM - what will get the valves open and closed as fast a possible with as little bounce as possible.

Hi Don,
Have you looked at Audies software upgrade? You will wonder how you got along without it.

Plus when you have a question he actually answers the phone LOL
If you go to PRI take a look at it. Audie & his wife are super people.

As for ramp rates, I agree, the ideal one would go up as fast as the piston would let it stay there & close the same way,,, unfortunately in the real world,,, :D
