ask Jones
you can get a bigger wheel with the .937 but mike can tell you if it's worth it

Yes he was the one that recommended either a .904 bushing that he sells or a Jesel .937 keyway (expensive) & a 50mm or 55mm cam journal.
decisions, decisions... #-o

2.648 mains, with a 2.10 rod journal, this is going to be a 9.325 deck 454ci.

Is it best to go with the longest rod possible?
I was thinking 4.185 bore, 4.125 stroke, 6.25 rod, 1.0 CH piston.

Going with a Jesel .905 dog bone lifter with a .820 wheel set-up & a 50mm roller bearing cam journal.

why the small wheel?
is that as big as you can go with 50mm
ASK YOUR CAMGRINDER
#2 longer is better- looks good
longer rod changes cam

Jesel dog bone lifters with a .905 offer only 2 wheel diameters .820 & .785
& a 50mm will keep more oil away from the cam than 60mm Babbitt bearings.
2 engine builders & 1 cam grinder said that will work & be plenty big for what I am doing.

The 1.850 rod journal is a Nascar or IRL diameter. They are not available, at least from Clevite- you need to check other sources- in a .010 undersize bearing. They require either a 2.008 or 1.976 rod big end bore. The rods you were looking at designed for a 2.1 rod journal will not work. There is a Nascar rod journal in the 1.77 range (don't remember exact dimension) for which bearing are available. You will need rods that have the proper bore for the bearing/journal. they may be available as Nascar take outs but the ones for 2.1 journal aren't it.

I have used LSM rollers in a .937 diameter with .850 roller. Dimensionally the same as the Jesels. I did not find they lasted as well roller failures and bearing wear. The Jesels are more expensive but can be rebuilt. I used a 55mm cam core which was OK The Valve train was all Jesel with titanium valves. Springs PAX 1329 and 1326 (400 seat, 1000open approx.) 9500-9800 in a LSR car. Rpm needed to make the power I wanted. Nothing lasted quite as long as I thought it should so I was behind the replace the parts curve. Your 1000 mile replace the valve train with mostly easy street miles might do it.

Ran all the numbers through my PipeMax software & came up with 1113h.p.
If everything is perfect on the build & dyno I think it should be close to this.

Opps fat fingered the h.p. number on my PipeMax software
It should be more like 1013h.p. if the VE is 110%

Does the SB2.2 head have the same firing order as a LS head?

It's whatever the cam is designed for, mine is 18436572 like a standard SBC.

Comp Cams said if they did my cam it would be an LS firing order.
I guess the firing order can be what ever you want it to be?
