sbc 383 intake recommendation

Post by smokie »

victor jr
team G
Strip Dominator
performer rpm
holley 300-36

383
dart pro 1 heads
11-1
244-248 hydraulic roller
3,500 stall
th400
3.73 geared g body
street/strip

will any of the three have an advantage over the others? i'm leaning towards the team G or holley Strip Dominator.

With stock, out of the box intakes, there is VERY little difference

Exactly what I was thinking maybe 5 hp difference in extreme cases never know the difference except with dyno comparison

Do you have hood height clearance constraints? Those manifolds are definitely not all the same height, and have somewhat different plenum volumes to go along with it.

Not an expert but I would think AirGap be best. 3.73's, only 3500 stall. And only 383 . Curious as to others opinions. Your cam right on the line for needing a single in my opinion.

That cam on a 106lsa with Airgap would rock in my opinion.

What size are the heads?
If they're 180 or 200cc I'd use the team g or Vic jnr.
Bigger than that I'd use the strip dominator.

Duel planes manifold belong on taxis and tow cars.

Which one would be best if fully ported? If they are equal out of the box, might as well buy the one that has the most future potential.

Strip dominator.
Another good one is the edelbrock 2925.
There's is a difference between these bigger intakes and the smaller Vic jnr and team g. But on a 500hp motor it'd only be 10-15hp.

If you have plenty of hood clearance.....you might look at one of the new Sniper Intakes from Edlebrock.

The Strip dominator is a proven piece and it cost less than some of the others. Use the money towards a good adjustable carb and an a/f meter. If you ever thought about spaying it a single plane would be better. IMO.
I might think a street tunnel ram but that's me. They just look mean. Not that you need it. But you said height isn't an issue.
Your kinda on the line with those heads and cam (bracket race) and gears and converter (more street) sounds like a fun ride though.

The air gap would get the job done with more low end on the street with a spacer maybe for some top end.

Will it be more street or race?
