FWIW, this weeks National Dragster has a good article by David Reher on wet sump oil control/bearing issues on deceleration (after a pass).

Now how much do you think lighting up the pistons will help? Help with shift recovery or just more power all over?

My first thought is the piston is hyp, any weight I can get out is good for reliability, I do wish I would have gone fordged. I believe a foot brake car leaves harder with a lighter rotating assembly, I have goals and one of them is a 1.2xx 60 foot. Lighter is better......

Now with this being hypers are they 5/64 or 1/16 rings? Any special hone jobs to help keep rotating friction down?

5/64 ring grove, round strait hone with clean Sunnen oil, nothing special.

I use a Sunnen
280 grit to size, then I go to a 400 grit, delrin shoes, clean the stones, then spray them with super tech carb clean, take two strokes then scotch brite in the hone with very clean sunnen hone oil.

Block passed the sonic ck very nicely, cam tunnel will work, block prep then the line hone, the heads.......well thats going to be a restoration.

I was wondering about that. With getting the hypers lightened, it's getting close what a forged piston like an icon 779 with better ring package would cost.

Im sure it will still run good tho...

Keith you make a good point, and I considered those pistons, but.........how could I run the 1.2 MM ring I want to run?
Anyone have any HP predictions?

It won't make anything, if you don't stop posting about it, and finish it. That cam's gonna be an antique by the time you get it running.
