I would say you would meet your goals with an #7530 Weiand Team G intake. It would still pull well down low with your 396 cid engine and I don't see it begin less driveable at 2000 rpm's on the road with that intake over the 2101 performer. But it should make a whole lot more up top. 5500-6400 rpm's at wot ! And with a high stall converter wot power at 2000 ain't going to make a difference at all !

At that note what stall converter are you going to run ? I suppose you're going to run an o/d trans with a high stall lock up converter ?

The performer rpm intake and the right GM "L88" air cleaner fits under the C3 hood.
But the C4 vette I believe has less under good clearance with the stock hood.

Might need to change the hood if you want to run a good dual plane hi rise
manifold. You are going to need to measure carefully for clearance.
A Eddy EPS is a bit lower. A weiand 8016 is a bit lower.

If going EFI why not a EFI intake like the converted LT-1 Gen II manifold or the popular (in that car) TPIS Mini Ram intake.
The Weiand Stealth Ram manifold may also fit IF you make and use your own custom
plenum top that is lower height, to get it under hood.
(The weiand Stealth ram does not quite fit as is.) but there is nothing saying you
cannot customize the plenum top for it.

For what you are doing overall torque is more important than the last 10 peak hp.
The Weiand 8016 may even allow a spacer which usually helps on these intakes.
It will fit with room to spare.
Keep the spacer divided as opposed to open style to keep the dual plane split 180deg plenum action active.
(Important with OD trans and lock up converter)

Go with an old E-Brock, C4B and don't look back!

The Tranny is a 4+3... that is a BW ST-10 manual 4-speed with a small 2 speed automatic trans type unit mounted behind it. It gives an OD that can be used on the top 3 gears; thus the 4+3 name. It will be changed to a Trimec 5 speed. I never took to the LT or Mini Ram intakes because the runners are so short; about 3", and that gives up a lot on the bottom/mid range. They do seem to make good top end HP though. Another factor... most all front mounted throttle body set ups I've looked into, cost more than the Holley. GW

Brodix 1016 intake will out pull a RPM Air-Gap and has a short carb mounting height. I have a nice used one around my shop that I could fix you up with if you want to make some serious power.....cracks me up about all the experts who overlook this intake....one of the best out there that fits under a Vette hood.

The good thing is there are some good looking after market hoods for these C4 cars.

You are right. This is a great manifold but I do think it is taller than the EPS. Similar to the old Edelbrock but has a way cut down plenum. Thanks, Charlie

If not mistaken, the Brodix 1016 is a newer copy of the old E-Brock C4B.

Like I said, more expensive NEWER intakes may no be as we would like them ti perform.

The old Holley 300-36, and Weiand Stealth 8016 are kick-ass DUAL-PLANE intakes in my book as is the old E-Brock C4B..

I say buy an old ebay C4B and don't look back....
