Pushrod choice on T&D Shaft mounted Rockers on 383 SBC

Post by UltRoadWarrior9 »

I'm at the end of my first SBC 383 engine build and have just measured for 7.100" long pushrods. So with that, I'll ask what I think might be a stupid question. I just want to be sure my choice is correct with input from more knowledgeable people with more engine builds under their belt...

Problem is: I would like to use Manley 3/8" diameter / .120" thick sidewall pushrods, but these are only available up to 7.000" at that diameter. Using T&D shaft mounted rockers, can the adjustment on the rocker arm be used to take up the .100" slack? Just FYI the T&D system are mounted on competition ported AFR210's

I wouldn't do it. Try not to run the adjuster down more than 1 turn after they are bottomed (backed all the way up).
Try Trend or Smith for pushrods. Great quality and they will build exactly what you need.

You SURE DO NOT need them for a hyd roller. Hyd rollers are for girls

I'm using PAC-1934 double springs/dampner and the race 'short travel' Comp Cams hydraulic lifters. Using a XFI292 Cam

Smith Brothers in Oregon can set you up with anything you need for a reasonable price.

i have had good use of cv products 3/8 chrome moly 135'' wall
solid roller on the street up to 680'' lift
make sure you have your rocker geometry correct before pushrod selection with shaft rockers
i have not used T and D but the jesel sportsman i have your geometry is adjusted by the shims under the rocker stand
i am using pushrods at 7.850'' i am assuming that your pushrod is shorter due to hydralic lifter body is way taller
i dont know if you need a thick wall heavy pushrod with hydralic roller cam
i would try to find the thread where randy 331 and CGT built that tough as nails sbc with hydr roller that made approx 570 hp

I'm confused. I know big joe knows motors, but how did he know this one had a hydraulic roller? It wasn't mentioned until the post after his. :?

Takes a little while to be able to 'read' a new poster; hard to distinguish at first between a giant chip on the shoulder and a wry sense of humor.. :)
