I wanted to post up 1.72" 1.46" valves with a better valve job but a difference of only a few cfm will not look like much on the graphs. Thanks, Charlie

I have a set of 289 heads on my 302 in my mustang. I have 1.94\1.50 valves in them. Never flowed them but they run pretty well.

As cast vs. Rough port and oversized valves.

Port velocity and port energy graphs. With oversized valves shrouding is I believe reducing flow. Next step deshrouding and combustion chamber shaping. Thanks, Charlie

port mach #s. On a 306 with about this much work they seem to stop pulling about 6800 rpm with a 286 adv. Duration.544. Lift cam.

1.85"/1.6" valves. Chamber on right deshrouded and slight reshape. Very interesting changes on the swirl characteristics throughout the flow curve with modified chamber. I hope to post graphs of this mod tomorrow. Input welcome. Thanks, Charlie

Charlie, looks pretty good so far. This chamber can take upwards a 1.90 valve with that prerequisite chamber work, no problemo. Can even get a 1.94" valve stuffed in there. Bigger than that leads towards too many other compromises. I've done several sets of these heads too.. it's most definitely NOT a shrouding problem with that medium sized 1.85" valve.

IMHO, the SSR transition is way too round and needs to be layed back and have the SSR corners dug into similarly to 23° Chevy head. Not to keep busting your balls about this.. but shorter apex floors typically prefer asymmetrical throat blending too. Round right at the choke and then cut into the SSR corners from there onwards. But.. do NOT lower the apex one little bit. That shape works well in this type of port and cares not what brand cylinder head its being utilized used in.

I notice you did a bit of work on the shallow side of the chamber wall. I no longer go there, as it seemed to lose more in compression and squish than it gained in flow. Other's thoughts?

Here's another thought
don't know about airflow but for liquid flow having the flow twist through the pipe and especially around curves helped
so screw it

totally incorrect for use inside a gaseous port which is already be struggling to pass the mustard around corners. Or maybe put a mini-turbulator in each port? Ever hear of the old "torque plus" stainless screened intake gaskets back in the 80's?
