conrod dowels

does anyone know of a good way to remove locating dowels in connecting rods(carrillo, eagle, etc)without munching them?

You can tap the I.D., thread in a bolt and drive out the bolt.

-I do the same thing, find a tap that will cut just enough threads (probably a 1/2-20 or maybe a metric like a 12MM) that a bolt or setscrew will screw in and then knock or press against the bolt to pull the dowels.

last winter I was working on making a tool to install sleeves around main bolts. I also made a tool to remove them, its a little slide hammer deal that has a expanding mandrel on one end and a installation tool on the other end.
I`d be glad to add a pict if I knew how, be glad to email to someone if they could post it.
