1000 lb/ft from 0rpm to 3150 rpm
750 lb/ft at 4000 rpm
600 lb/ft at 5000 rpm
509 lb/ft at 6200 rpm

What does an infinitely variable transmission do with that for max performance?

This isn't directed towards you, so don't take offense, but who gives a SHIT. This isn't a electric car site, and I hope it never is. They can pound electric cars you know where

=D> ohhhhhh yeah !

Why get upset about lectric cars. My next one will be lectric.
It's because someone mentioned torque at zero RPM which jammed a spanner in the works.

Which proves you can have torque without power but you can't have power without torque, with an engine or motor.

What about steam engines?
Same, it's torque that gets it started.
How far do you travel at max tq at a sustained zero rpm?
Craig.

Best of luck of luck when you break down with error code 543 on the dash & you ring a local repair shop for assistance....
Nahh.... the same was said when cars were transitioning from points to electronic ignition.. or carburetors to EFI.

Electric cars failed once already. If it's a fair fight, they will lose again. Thanks to an education system devoted to indoctrination rather than education, we now have 3 generations who think humans can change the climate, and we NEED junk like electric cars to save the planet.

In reality, it's just another method to control the sheep.

Electric cars suck. When a cell phone or computer has a useful life longer than 2 years then maybe the electric car will have some value to urbanites. Better yet, why not skip the electric car and all you city dwellers can either walk or ride a bicycle.

That'll save the planet.

It's funny that they always want to make something that will reduce pollution and fuel consumption but to make something requires pollution and fuel consumption that far off sets anything that will be made up for by the end product.

I am still waiting to see what happens when these electric cars end up on the used car market and then the reports start rolling in about earth killing disposal of them.

It's the electrolytic capacitors that fail.
They're designed the way they are so that they DO fail and keep the economy going.

The very best example is a DVD player.

High quality products don't fail because they avoid electrolytic capacitors or at least they're not mounted right next to heat sinks and have sufficient cooling.

Don't want to derail the thread but anyone who thinks planned obsolescence keeps the economy going has no idea of how money, finance and the economy actually function.

It's also a waste of money and an environmental nightmare. No wonder Mitt Romney is a loser. That's what he thinks drives an economy.

Nope. No reason to change my opinion. It's based on facts and experience.

Yawn :) Have they posted any theoretical dyno graphs yet? Without hp curves, and numbers 1000rpm past peak, it is a guessing game with no data.

I can build a 9.5:1 540 that is all done at 6000 making 600hp. I can biild a 12.5:1 396. That will touch 600hp @7000rpm. Please define the scope and intentions, and limitations of your question.

As I mentioned a number of pages back, beyond the specified HP & RPM differences the only assumptions for everything else that make sense are power curves of identical shape, i.e. with only the RPM scale changed (resulting in a single curve that represents both engines) and matching optimized gearing. Anything else is not the apples-to-apples comparison the OP presumably intended.
