We've mentioned lectric cars , steam too.

Someone mentioned Diesel electric.

Of course the reason for that is a Diesel engine makes lots of torque, lots of power too.
It's torque that gets you started, torque at zero RPM is zero power.
It's a bit difficult to get several thousand tons moving and an IC engine won't work at zero RPM.

Adding a generator and electric motors gets it going efficiently without burning up a clutch.

Joe comments about the 31 pages of B.S., and then adds to it! Lol

Classic! =D>

How about 33?

Like I said , it doesn't matter how much power you can make at whatever RPM, you need torque to get it moving from zero speed and an IC engine makes zero power AND zero torque at zero RPM..

What if its idling? Is it making any tq or horsepower?

i tend to think the lower rpm an the torque moves ur car better, smaller cubic engines 302,327,etc etc seems to like being shifted at higher rpm,s? my heavy shoebox55 like the big cube small blks 383,406 i have run both..

An engine is only operating at "zero speed" when it's not running.........lol

I think after all of this great technical information, I have got it figured out. Some of you are measuring in Clydesdale's and some of you are measuring in thoroughbreds.

Which one is faster?!?
You would have to factor in the length of the mane, thickness of the tail and head position for wind drag plus saddle, rider and pre morning dump or post morning dump?
Please Note!

Chaff quality will influence ET depending on digestion and therefore gas pulse expulsions and the angle at which the tail is held, a low tail may create some lift with excess gas and cause a lack of rear hoof traction , food for thought :-k

Torque and horsepower co-exist at all lower RPM including idle.
BOTH are created by CYLINDER PRESSURE moving pistons.

Without factoring for aerodynamics, rolling or driveline friction.
Acceleration now (G) = horsepower now x 375 / (vehicle LBS x vehicle MPH now)
No torque value is required in the formula.

With another formula using vehicle weight, engine torque now, trans and axle gear ratios and tire radius you will obtain the same acceleration now result.

Better quality feed (cylinder pressure) gives a horse more power.
A little horse that eats faster (RPM) can match/exceed power of a bigger horse (DISPLACEMENT).

So.. get the biggest fastest eating horse and give it the best feed in the world! And you will pay $$.
