I couldn't figure out how to fit AC plus 4 more cylinders and figured the extra cylinder a were more important.

Then I could figure out how to get vacuum with big cams and figured hp was more important than power brakes....

I suspect there is a lot of this type of thinking on this forum........

Curious, that's why i asked this question because with full accessories including air conditioning, cars with big cams with quite of bit of overlap may not have enough vacuum on a daily driver. True, many who may have high horsepower naturally aspirated or nitrous cars are not daily driving them, many die hard enthusiasts however have cars that are daily driven that may make more than 550hp all muscle for a small block or more than 650 for a big block with power brakes and air. I expect my build to be around the 550hp mark all motor with my G3 Hemi.

I run a SBC 383, about 450HP. Most here would not consider it radical, but it has plenty of vacuum for power brakes and no issues running the A/C compressor. Ideally it would have some kind of solenoid or servo to bump up the idle speed a tad when the compressor kicks on (it is carbureted), but otherwise no complaints.

I tried an Edelbrock idle solenoid but it didn''t have enough power to bump the throttle lever. I had to hit the pedal, let the solenoid rod jump out, and then it would hold the idle speed up. Not good enough, sent it back.

I bought a Ford idle servo meant for some 80's TBI type application to try out. The plan is to use a microprocessor to control it, haven't gotten around to it though.

Does it count if your drag car has a belt driven water pump, alternator, power steering and power brakes? They don't allow you to run a/c at the track, they frown on the condensation running off the frame rail. It was really street strip and ran 7.4 straight motor and 6.9 with a 150 shot.
I don't know anyone that ever dynoed an engine with all accessories so in car power would be hard to say. My 357 made 530 motor, 710 with 150 shot and 820 with 300 shot but I sold the car before getting to install it.

Some 16 years ago I used to daily drive a '67 Chrysler Newport with a solid cammed 440ci engine in it.
11:1cr, iron heads, KB-pistons, balanced internals, ARP bolts in the stock rods.
Solid engine mounts.
Power steering + Power brakes.
3800 stallspeed convertor which flashed to 4300rpm in the stock transmission and 3.9:1 gears in the rear axle with 325/50/15 rear tires.
The cam was an older Erson mechanical cam: 256° @ .050 dur, w/0.534" lift and 1.5 rockers.

I got it to run 13.7 on the 1/4 at the time.

The car is long gone, but still have the engine and rear axle.

Thats stout Gary C. Yeah I haven't heard of anyone dynoing a fully dressed engine outside of automotive manufacturers. One would have to get an approximate flywheel horsepower number on a chassis dyno number based upon driveline losses....unless one dyno their stuff before the accessories attached and state that. My car is a Chrysler 300c and it is estimated that driveline loses are around 18%.

Not speaking on the foreign exotics like Ferrari, Lamborghinni or the likes, the 2006 to 2013 chevy corvette z06 is very stout with 505hp and Chrysler SRT-8 392 @ 485hp both at the flywheel.

Yeah it's pretty amazing what they are getting from modern day cars with luxury and mileage to boot.

A/C on a v12 would do me no good because I would have to have the windows down so I could here every note!
