Ford 6.0 had the turbo up top inside the vee fifteen years ago.

However, mounting the turbo inside the Vee is one thing; having the exhaust ports inside the vee is quite a bit less common.

The 6.7 has the exhaust in the v, and the intakes on the outside of the head, they use the valve covers and intake manifolds.

I got one of those new amg biturbos on Monday. The driver experience is better than with the old amg biturbo or with latest bmw m5.

BMW turbo V8s have had "hot vees" for a long time now. Five-ten years?

Once again Mercedes is playing catch-up to BMW

Hot V engine. Just like most things, been around for ever. Nice deal for a lot of reasons.

BMW has been ahead of Daimler in engines recently, but after Daimler gave all the V8 development for passenger cars to AMG, they’ve caught up.

BMW has the patent on dual twin scroll turbos with crossover dual plane exhaust manifolds. That’s an edge, but the current AMG V8 package overall is better.

Plus Daimler is hugely ahead of BMW, google, Tesla, etc on autonomous driving technology.

Exactly. BMW S63 engine for example. Plus, every outboard V engine have reverse flow. Exhaust in the middle.
