we used to do this with 5 hp B&S go kart engines by leaving off the scraper oil ring and adding nitro ethane in the crankcase oil till they caught on. :D

2-stroke comes mind. Was at Rotax factory in austria. They claimed there gp road race bike engines made more hp per cc than f1.

Yeah I curious as to what additive they might be using in the oil that would not effect the lubricity, if that's a word?

Nitro. Doesn't take much. To gain 20hp.

Have them measure the displacement of the 2 stroke, through 720 degrees, like they do a 4 stroke, and see which one is making more power per cc.

I remember some of our comp competitors back in the late 80's mixing nitro in the oil to gain a few hundredths in a final. Seemed sketchy to me but I guess they figured one pass was not going to kill it.

Doesn't apply for F1-regulations, they have unlimited air supply, only burnable fuel is limited. Anything which can be burned in combustion cycle will add power in F1, strange that they left such a loophole in regulations.
