One thing about NHRA Super Stock classes is the fact that there are several variations of classes within Super Stock. For instance you have Super Stock Modified (i.e. SS/CM) which allows much more flexibility and is somewhat similar to the old Modified Production classes that were very popular back in the 70's.

That's probably in the ball park. It's important to note that the rules for Stock were actually more liberal than today. The cam used in Jenkins A/S 327-350 Nova was an Isky 550 on a 108 center line and the intake was an Edelbrock unit.

Modern day Stock Eliminator engines must use the factory intake and stock lift cam for the horse power claimed. For example, a 327-275 horse engine has a .390 int./.410 ex. cam and factory cast iron intake. A good one of these makes 425 to 440 hp. to be competitive.

They also have the 4 and 6 cylinder classes with turbo or supercharger or normally aspirated some of the v-6’s are making over 650 hp and the turbos are over 1200 hp with only 200 cid but over 3400 lbs,or a normally aspirated 260 cid at 2100 lbs tube chassis cars.

What's amazing is Grump's A/S 327-350 Nova was running the dual-quad 426 hemi Mopars heads-up and beating them. Was even the A/S record holder for a while during that period.

Imho, the old -041 head was not a, "double-hump", it had a rectangular pad with a triangle laying down on its longer 90 degree side.

Probably the same ports and chamber as a, "double-hump", so it really doesn't matter. It never had 2.02"/1.60" valves though.

My 66 Nova 350 Hp only weighted 2640 when I first brought it home from the dealership--The Hemi probably was 34-3500 pounds

Works out to about the same 8 lbs. per cubic inch
I can imagine the power and weight of the Nova was a better match for the limited tires they had to run back then.

In the 7" tire days, Jenkins would put daylight between him and the heavier cars early in the run. However, to be accurate he didn't reach the finish line ahead of Jere Stahl at any national event.

The superstock hemi i know up here had quite a few national titles including at one time the mph record. The owner told me many years ago the engine dynoed over 880. I would imagine well north of that now.I started this thread as a guy i know was building stock eliminator cleveland car. Some very trick new ideas and he told me the hp would be quite a ways north of 600. Didn't know what to think of that as it takes( my experience at least) a good amount of work to hit 600 with good perf parts.

Yes Bills motor. I did a set of heads mimicking the ones he did. We never did the angle milling but they made awesome flow at .600. The cool thing is no grinding once so ever.

My question is: At what weight does that car run at in C.
What is the factory boss 351 cleaveland cam lift?
How many cfm does the factory carb flow
Racing a NA NHRA stocker should be mandatory before any posting.

The Boss I think is nhra rated at 345 hp times 9.0 plus 170 for the driver.Thats why most racer run the HO at 325 in E or D more camshaft. And they even have a Cj cleveland that runs the same head as the Boss at 305 nhra rating with a little less cam than the Boss for E or F.
