Re: LS3 Carbed build
As an update on the LS3. I purchased the Daytona sensors ignition, 2821 Super Victor 4500 flange, GZ vacuum pump, Whitener 1050. Also purchased the hollow stem LS9 exhaust valves that RW TECH mentioned to me. Its coming along...slowly but surely.

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Well.....I don't like to brag!!
Ported LS3 castings initially. The engine has no home, so it will just be a dyno test piece. A lot of people give me a lot of ideas on what they would like to see tested. But...I would like to dyno against a stock untouched ls3 head, an epoxied head, a smaller cathedral port head and manifold, camz etc etc.
I'm mostly worried about the valvetrain being happy at the speed this thing is likely to want to run at. I guess I need a GoFundMe lol. Castings for these things are pretty inexpensive, so that will help...but if I can dyno a couple times a year and test....itll be a worthwhile investment to me....not planning on taking up golf anytime soon so...

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Comp cams adjustable 1.8 rockers with custom guide plates for larger 7/16 studs with stud girdle. 8000+ Comp cams has the larger trunion kit for the rockers also. Solid roller done cheap that's adjustable. Larger stud for safety. With a hydraulic roller and under 700 lift seem perfect as is with 8mm studs.
Also the super vic is limited to or about 7500. Work is needed for anything past 7500.

So I shouldn't do any testing? . I have a GZ pro pump.Rowdy Yates wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:17 am Sounds familiar......... Save the money on bullshit testing waste of time and $. If not yet purchased get a gz vacuum pump
Its certainly got enough CSA, runner length?Rowdy Yates wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:32 am Also the super vic is limited to or about 7500. Work is needed for anything past 7500.

Re: LS3 Carbed build
Test the heads you have now.....
Cathedral heads will make more Tq but lose up top.
Epoxy Ls3 heads with work will make a bit more Tq and power will be about the same as a set of ported Ls3 heads.
The intake thought comes from a EMC friend who's done the same basic build with a solid roller. I have the same intake just efi with a 4500 accufab TB. 7500 is my peak for the Ls3 combination.

Re: LS3 Carbed build
The intake is decent for a 7000 rpm engine, but needed a lot of work for 8000. Plus there are some things that I like doing with the floor and runner entrance of intakes that seem to make good power and run better. intake.
Re: LS3 Carbed build
I would bet that you will make that manifold work just fine for your project. I'm a 2 4bl kinda guy so if you run out of manifold, have Mark make ya another carb thingy.

Re: LS3 Carbed build
That intake would be a bad choice for an EMC engine, unless it was really big cube. So....no need for me to test anything? Its that cut and dry? Cathedral for torque, square port for hp? . That simple...hmmRowdy Yates wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 9:47 am The intake thought comes from a EMC friend who's done the same basic build with a solid roller.
