Have they figured out yet how to make them straight?

We've all TRIED it. Just a question if they will admit to it
Ones in the sets of 10 of one size?
They are adequate for drilling wood.

I got a full set of china drills a long time ago that was decent. Looks the same as all the others. Some are OK, but can't really tell. Not willing to find out.

Are they the goldish ones. They will bend before they break.

OK on aluminum. Dulls quickly on steel. Not exactly straight either. Questionable if I will buy again. Don't buy the ones with hex end as the hex will break off easily and they are definitely not straight.

The Chinese stuff like the drill bits that don't drill are American businessmen having the Chinese built inferior products to a low price...You can be sure the Chinese do know how to manufacture better stuff...Items made in India can be worse if that's possible...

China has been one on the biggest markets for European precision machining equipment manufacturers.

I have a set of them that make okay beaters. I had one grab and shatter, which was surprising. I dread drilling steel by hand and those just make it worse. Well over half I've resharpened by hand. Usually right in the middle of a doing something. Okay in wood I guess, or aluminum if you like really out of round holes.

I bought some and the tip was actually sharpened with a left handed angle but, the shank had a right twist.

Incredible ...

Years ago I made a promise to myself that I would never purchase cheap drill bits or saw blades. As I recall, this was about the same time that I promised myself to never date ugly girls, nor drink cheap liquor. I believe that these self-promises have saved me from a lot of aggravation over the years . . . . . . . .

And that goes double for any hand tap available in any local store.

I hope they got better. I tried some about 10 yrs ago. I got 1 bound up and the bit in twisted. Yes I know they're not bits but that's what the layman would say. It's a twist drill, a bit goes in a horse's mouth.

You mean to tell me that Hanson tap and dies are now crap? If they are even still sold...

I have some that have to be 50 years old and I have threaded a couple of Grade-8 bolts fine, but they do work best on Grade-5 steel bolts or softer.

Same deal with a drill bit set I bought down through the years!

The hansons always were crap. At least in my lifetime. I swear if they made a top quality tap they are only sending the seconds or thirds to the stores.
They don't cut. They rub.
Buy a quality tap from MSC or MCM or someone like that and you will be amazed.
