What are the ring gaps?
What brand? (Or did i miss that?)
Sure the rings are all in correct orientation/positions?

What exactly are you seeing go out the breathers? oil? water vapor? smoke?
If its just oil, I believe you just have a oil control problem into the pan, or just too much oil. You can drain 1 quart from full and retest.
Spitting out the dipstick means your breathers aren't flowing enough air to evacuate the crankcase. You need high flow breathers or just plain hoses out the engine.
Remember all the engines leak air past the rings, this air needs to go out the engine. At 521CI a vaccum pump is a good idea, specially with high compression.

Re: 460 blowbye
Chassis dyno test with blow by meter will quantify your problem , if it exceeds about 6 cfm or so it will need attention, my humble suggestion.
A good test is worth a thousand opinions.

Re: 460 blowbye
How would looking at the plugs help to determine what's causing the engine to have a bunch of leakage?
Re: 460 blowbye
You have mentioned a couple of times on tear downs a ring or rings were stuck. When you discovered stuck rings did this seem to be a result of carbon or buildup of oil burned in the ring grooves in the pistons? Something stuck those rings and to me that's a sign of oil burning and blow bye and that to me indicates the rings never sealed properly from day one. The condition that this might indicate is either the bores are not round in use, as one other said a ring upside down, pretty severe piston rock, etc. In any event the stuck rings are a "giant direction sign" to the problem in my opinion!

The bores were straight and piston to wall was a little tight .0015 maybe the ring end gap was fine. the first time it was pulled apart most of the rings were stuck, it looked like whoever installed them did it improperly and may have bent them. The ring lands were cleaned and new rinds installed, the rings seemed to fit and move fine, but the ringlands were still suspect. after it was but back together and did about the same thing, I kind of figured it was the pistons that's why I'm put new ones in.
