Roller cam comparison

Post by 1972ho »

I have an old compcam roller the RT grind with a 294@.020 264@.050 .186@.200 intake lobes And I want to have another more modern lobe ground and the ones I’ve looked at that are close to what I have are the RX-298 @.020 265@.050 .183@.200 the TC 295@.020 264@.050 .184@.200 the RC 294@.020 264@..050 .188@.200 HXL 293@.020 264@.050 .187@.200 QRI 292@.020 264@.050 .190@.200 And the TK 293@.020 265@.050 .190@.200 all with a .430 int lobe .420 exh I want to try and stay with something close to what I have so that I adjust ptv are any other parts on the engine so just the lobes shown will any of them change where the engine makes power are make more hp than the current cam that I’m running. Thanks

I'm no cam expert, but the important thing to realize is you can not make a big difference in the lobe displacement angle of the cam you have. Something you really need to discuss with the cam grinder.

All your .200" lift measurements listed do not look like you could expect much difference from the cam you have unless LDA's or symmetry were changed from what you have now. What is intake rocker ratio?

I am NOT an Expert, and DEFINITELY NOT a GURU.

Rocker ratio is 1.7,I was just kind of looking at the .020 and .050 lift numbers some these cams have a faster .020 and .050 duration than my current cam so I was just wondering if that would change how my engine would run as far as torque, rpm and hp.Like the TP grind it has a 28 degree opening and closing that is faster than my current cam.
