MANLEY PRO SBC PISTONS ????

Post by garym »

Well I have a few questions as to how loose you can run the trw/manley pro pistons in the cylinder. The engine block that I have is a small journal 327 block .040 on the cylinders, well it is about .0008 to .0017 on 3 of the cylinders. Also I checked the main housing bores and the measurement I got on the 3 center mains were .0005 to .001 above the max range I had the sunnen bore gauge set at 2.4916.So I am looking at doing the main line hone and I would like to know if .008 piston to wall clearance is going to be too much. This is going to be drag race only.I also was wondering about coating the piston skirts but I do not know how well that would work. I can not rember what shop did the work on this block, but I paid good money for what was done, now I have to try and fix this mess. any input would be helpful. THANKS garym
