Saturday LT1 airflow project

Buddy from work liked the job I did on coworker's 4.3l and brought in this Saturday gig. SLP cold air system and flowmaster exhaust on a 94 Z28 auto convertable that is otherwise stock. Seems every hose is toast. Love older rides. I would like to flow the stock throttle body and SLP cold air intake with filters and then after mods to see if there is any airflow increase. Drove well this morning with more torque than I was expecting with the short ram intake. He is talking about a set of ported heads and headers in the near future. My first tinkering on a LT1. Thanks, Charlie

Nice install Charlie.
Do you think there would be a entry cd improvement by filling or otherwise providing a radius cover to the H section separating the two butterflys? Why is that open? Assembly function? I am a MC guy, so I don't know about car details for the most part.

Before pics, I will do my radius entry on the throttlebody which looks like the same unit as the old tpi throttlebody. The SLP cold air intake is pretty old and filters could use a cleaning and oiling. I will do radiuses on the SLP cold air intake as well. Thanks, Charlie

They used to make a filler piece for these throttlebodies. I may just leave it deoending on how the day goes.

The airfoil wont help him, would be curious to see if your bench liked it.
Those intakes have a lot of potential had good results with them.
think I still have a few of the alum heads/intakes laying around.

SLP claims a 30 CFM and up to 7 HP gain for their TB airfoil. http://www.slponline.com/product/22100- ... oster.html

I tested one on a stock 350" Camaro about 25 years back, on a Clayton water brake chassis dyno. It was worth a modest but repeatable 4 HP.

I just got the beast back together in a downpour. 1st half of the day was smooth the second a nightmare. I will drive it back to the plant after dinner.

This actually works better than it looks. I goofed a bit because first flow of just throttle body stock had 17 cfm leakage I figured it was through iac. Flow of throttle body after porting went up 18 cfm and leakage was near zero but I also used more clay too. Measured at 10" depression. This is not perfect in every way like my wife.

The stock air elbow was seriously degraded and cracked. This will adversely affect performance due to the mass air sensor not measuring all the airflow though the engine. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement elbow without breaking the bank? Thanks, Charlie
