Re: Lead deposits
I don't know, I wondered the same thing. I was being sarcastic, like the 2 replys I quoted. I have heard that said numerous times though, when people talk about LL 100 octane av gas. Wouldn't the lead make it not dry? Lead is a lubricant, is it not? Even though it's got low lead compared to what I am not sure, but there still is lead in it, and would be less dry than ethanol blended fuels and unleaded fuels that we put in our cars ? Right?
Re: Lead deposits
When I run Av gas in my Nova I keep wanting to call the tower for clearance to stage the car.
Tower to cosmetically challenged Nova , cleared to stage on right lane.

Re: Lead deposits
Leaded fuel isn't "dry" at all, it's the opposite.
Unleaded fuel is "dry" as is both CNG and LPG.
Tetraethyl lead is an oily substance which lubricates the valves.
When the lead was removed from pump fuel, valve seats had to be hardened (or at least that's what we were told my the marketing gurus of the time) otherwise they wore out quicker.
Same problems as converting to CNG or LPG unless you use an upper cylinder lubricant.
