That one was a roots blower 7 lbs of boost ... camshaft and rockers ..ported oe heads ...
The upper limit on these is the main caps ... this one had cap walk fretting and that was with arp studs ... some guys build better cap support ...
The high cid and stroke make them a torque beast so most go into 4 wheel drive trucks ... this one was in a 70 Monte Carlo with a manual transmission and at 1000 ft lbs of engine torque it was a lot of fun .... did have a few problems ... it ripped the pinon out of the rear end and was gauling the teeth on the transmission from the pressure .....

Guessing the block doesn't have enough material around the caps to improve that much.Scotthatch wrote: ↑Thu Aug 09, 2018 3:31 pm That one was a roots blower 7 lbs of boost ... camshaft and rockers ..ported oe heads ...

No they are a very well cast high nickel block but light weight so no extra where they did not want it .. the good news is it only weights a bit more then a small block Chevy when you are done ... the CAD company makes a girdle for the bottom that some work to do for most but bet not for you ... also watch your ramp speed on the cam if you get one ground as its a small core size .. crane used to call it A type core ... there are now roller cores too .... there are two aftermarket heads for the engine first done by bulldog years ago now sold by mts that is an aluminum copy of a ported cast iron head the second was done by Potter sold as the boogieman head and it fixes the intake entryway this is a great head ... there are aftermarket rods made by pep and at one point forged pistons ... the only other part to keep an eye on is the oil pickup tube ...spend some time to make sure it seals to the block ... I bubble test all mine .... like I said I think it is a great choice for learning what it takes to make it go .... anyone can buy parts and just bolt a Chevy together
