This is the second set of bearings I have received from the oem supplier like this.
they were in sealed baggies this way, no rust on the metal backing or anything like that.
Doesnt really feel raised, but wont come off

The weird thing is that it is in the same places on every bearing.
The first set I ever bought didn't have any of this junk on it.
Does anyone know what this stuff is?

They get 37$ per half, and this is how they look #-o
Thanks,
Aaron.

Hard to tell even from the pictures but it looks like a build up of the break in coating

If they were stacked up during the manufacturing process it almost looks like something got down those holes and etched the surface? I wouldn't use those.

Those bearings are junk. Take or send them back and get some decent bearings!

I don't know where else I could get these. They are for an Aprilia motorcycle. I think Aprilia is Italian for bastard.
the dimensions are 41x38x18

Yes I’ve seen similar many times on other imported stuff. I used them, It doesn’t hurt anything.
I wouldn’t recommend scotchbrite on bearings. I know it’s done, but it embeds abraisive into the bearing material.

I don't think that is anything ON it but, an over-plating job which did not cover the entire surface.

The 'spots' looks like a chemical reaction, corrosion maybe. Possibly caused by moisture during storage.

It can appear that way, but they all have it in the same spots, at the parting line, and adjacent to the oil holes. And they were in hot sealed bags.

Based on the line running through them they were jigged and measured. I’m not sure I’d use them though.

I sent a photo of the bearing to a bike riding friend in Scotland who is a automotive bearing engineer...See what he says...
