Describe the engine as type and model age will have a lot to do with how you should winterize. Gas, diesel,Carbed, EFI, etc.?

Re: winter storage
The only real right way to do is to get the motor warm and then back off on the adjustment of all the valves to seal off the cylinders.
Very light rust on the cylinders will not cut into power anywhere near as much as rust pitted valve seats!

Re: winter storage
For many years I had several summer only vehicles..For the winter I just parked them in an unheated garage...About every 6 weeks I would crank over the engines a few times, but not start it...And charge the battery...

I'll add , check corrosion inhibitor is up to soec as well as antifreeze!
I'll question the suspension hanging,, with bonded rubber suspension bushes which should be at no tension/twist at normal ride height letting them hang is not great. In this case i would suggest support the vehicle on an appropriate part of the suspension so ride height is maintained but load is not on tyres. With a non bonded bushings- let it hang!

Re: winter storage
Moth balls will leave odors in car .I use Ratol (or Ratnip spreaded on soda biscuits) in small pouches that i put in small bowls in the car and engine compartement and never had damages in 35 years.

I think traps are better. If those mice have taken occupancy in your car they will die in your car. I had one, in all the places, in the trunk lid...69 Mach 1. It stank for months!
