Any good pics of ported L98, ZZ4, 113 casting heads?

Post by tchapps88 »

picked up a set that will be going on a low mile roller 350 with lunati's lt4 hot cam copy (219/229 112lsa .536/.536), 1.6rr, performer intake with notched divider, either an SMI built qjet or 1904 750cfm street demon and going into my 85 monte ss.

I already have the following pieces around and intend to use them up on these heads- summit 1.94 and 1.50 undercut stem valves, high tech racing products 2422 valve springs (almost the same as the zz4/lt4 springs) 115lb seat@ 1.780, 340lbs @1.250, 10 degree locks, retainers and howards .531 orange hybrid pc seals.

just seeing if any of yous have pics of ported ones to get an idea, i ported 1 bowl the other night, not quite done yet but did a lot of blending between the seat to bowl, opened up between the guide and the wall on the long wall side and did some leveling, tapering and widening of the short turn area but not done and didnt take a pic yet.

Before you go back wards in your quest for greater flow spend 27 bucks and get David Visards book" how to port heads" on Amazon!

push the short turn back a bit, open up the throat and blend everything else to that. blend the top cut into the chamber and call it quits.

These heads work well with the 2.00-1.56" lt4 valve set and porting. They work on the oem seat incerts.
Just need a valve job and the porting.
You can look at the Lingenfelter cnc ported versions fir inspiration. Includibg chamber rework.

Older 113 2.0"/ 1.55" Vizard 30 degree intake seat done for a limited lift application. 265 cfm 190 cfm or there about. I doubt I would invest this much time into these castings again. Thanks, Charlie

Yes, same as the 128 heads you covered in one of your earlier version of "How to build max performance chevy small blocks on a budget!", except the 113 already have D exhaust ports and I've read they are cleaner castings. I got the older version on ebay when I started to play with my sportsman II heads and will re-read it if I ever pull my 128 heads.

edit: version with blue cover, yellow cover has newer heads.

photobucket has mine for ransom, ugh...
Have gotten 230ish/201 out of a set of them w/stock valves, basic 3 angle valve job.
(89 tpi vette auto) 1989 113 castings, same as the ZZ4 they just carried a different pn.
Flowz sheet is around here somewhere (all packed up to move) or Id post it.
A better valve job & 2.00 valve coulda picked them up more just wasnt worth it to me at the time.

yours should run good with the hotcam.

Charlie, in the project SN thread you commented about 128 Corvette heads you ported with a DV valve job. Considering 113 are a newer better casting would you expect them to flow better than 128's after porting? The simulation you ran was impressive.

I think I mixed the casting number up on them. Mine are 128's and 113's have D exhaust. I have not ported 113's but the D exhaust port was changed because it was more efficient. I think the intake ports are identical. Thanks, Charlie
