SIDE GRINDING OF LOBES ON CAM
Is it necessary to side grind the lobes of a cam when using .937 keyway lifters to keep adjacent lobes from hitting the lifters?

Yes, No, Maybe. What engine family are you asking about?

No side grinding; the lifters have a step in them to clear adjacent lobe
Re: SIDE GRINDING OF LOBES ON CAM
Comp Cam recommended it on the last cam I had ground for .904 lifters, however I have had several ground for .904 & .937 that I did not have side grinding done and had no problems with them hitting.I think maybe it was a sales gimmick but I always listen to people who do stuff for a living.
