Is he going to complement the engine by getting the right converter and gear, will he try spacers or collector tuning, or is he the type to hang the dyno
sheet on the wall and just drive it as is, what spacer did you try, PR, open, reversion?

His new converter showed up today, so yes, he'll get the right converter. LOL
Sent the dyno sheet to Coan and had them make one.

Tried a 1" taper spacer and it was worth a very small amount of power, so we didn't test others.
It's making enough power for a factory block.

He'll try whatever I or his chassis guy suggests.
I'm suggesting get in and see what it runs like for now.

Hope he's ready to hang on. With 100hp more and a good Coan stalling right should make for an interesting first pass.

If he is like most racers he will be happy the first night out and then his only thought will be how to go faster... That gets a lot harder now.

The first port job and cam change I did of any significants was good for a little over 1 second et on my 377, everything after that was enough to piss you off and a lot more work.

If this thing has the grunt the dyno sheet says it won’t need a 7” to get 6200 stall

It's an 8" converter.
Coan says 6200-6300, I was thinking a little more than that.

I'd agree with coan, you don't want the rpm kept artificially high by the converter, you want it locked up & not slipping & sapping power to keep rpm up.
If the motor would drop below stall speed on the change without the converter keeping it up then you're wasting power.
If you think it'll run out to 8000 & not drop below power at 6500 then maybe it could use more stall.
It is very possible to have too much converter.

I'd want it to stall 6500.

I think it will. But it would have been nice to see a dyno pull that high to be positive.
