Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
That is exactly what I did to the front of the plenum on my TPI intake manifold and to the inside. Anything to promote smooth airflow. Very nice job that you did. However that looks like an LT-1.

Mini ram, looks badass. For sure the big throttle body and mini ram didn't hold back those heads. C H A D, please go over this whole build for those who missed it. The exhaust flow is great and the intake flow is plenty for a 7000 rpm street sweeper. Second look at the pinch, the air speed may be a bit high for 7000 rpm. I am surprised you feel the power is down.

Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
I'm not certain power is down. I think it's more in the non-aux 700R4. That is why I had a new 4L60 built. Everything I have done has made it better, so I'm hoping the trans puts it over the top.Carnut1 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2019 3:28 pm Mini ram, looks badass. Things I've done to help performance:
Port heads and Manifold
2.00/1.570 LS 8mm
KMotion LS drop in kit
1.60 Comp stainless steel rockers
Comp 230/236 HYD cam w/.595 lift
58mm billet TPIS throttle body
Headers w/3" exhaust and Spintech muffler
26lb injectors
10.8-1
4000 stall converter
TPIS chip
3.92 DANA 44 rear end

So no feedback, I am down a few cylinders due to heat exhaustion so forgive me. 350 ci? Hydraulic roller I would think with the lift you show? So I have built a few similar street 355's but never with the miniram. Victor jr. With carbs and fuel injection, yes. My experience with similar combos with a bit less gear and converter was traction became the issue. So I think you are right, that tranny has an issue and it will become a different ride with the new tranny.

Yes 350. It started life as a L98.Carnut1 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 29, 2019 7:57 am So no feedback, I am down a few cylinders due to heat exhaustion so forgive me. 350 ci? After it's done, I should have built a bigger engine. Still might!
Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
A friend i tuned a combo for had that same cam with a holley stealth ram efi intake on a set of old afr 190 cc heads which are basically ported 113’s. I think they were advertised at 250-260 cfm by .600 back in the day.
He had weak valve springs and floated at 5700. Even still it made 330 whp before floating and ran 12.2 at 112 down in texas. It would have been closer to 350-360 if it could have pulled clean to 6400. Well into the 11’s. 3600 stall but would have wanted 4000 i think to be optimal
Fun street combo
I love the 80-90’s efi sbc stuff. TPI, LT1, super ram, miniram, stealth ram etc. thats where i play the most

You mean the ones where a pair of runners was siamesed as cast.1989TransAm wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2019 12:40 pm Yes, I was using the first version SLP runner. If you saw a picture of them you could see why.

Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
If I had to do it all over again, I would build me a set of heads much like Super Stock heads and a roller cam.
Anyone need some 113?

Yes. Engine made around 420rwhp and about the same on torque. I cannot find my dyno sheets. Ran 11.5 @116 in the quarter. I also ran a 4L60E where it was easy to program the shift points.BOOT wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 10:54 pmYou mean the ones where a pair of runners was siamesed as cast.1989TransAm wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2019 12:40 pm Yes, I was using the first version SLP runner. Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
Something crazy. A 355 Super Stock engine with a 270cfm 172cc Edelbrock head, Victor E manifold with a TPI 52mm GM throttle body, makes 650+ at 7200..
Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
Funny you just posted that. We need a discussion on what power can be made from existing cfm of your 113's even if theoretical vs. Changing heads. I think the tranny will be a huge change for that car. Thanks, CharlieSpeierRacingHeads wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:35 pm Something crazy. I got the trans Saturday. I'm going to get it in, and get it on the chassis dyno.Carnut1 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 1:45 pmFunny you just posted that. I have a dyno sheet from a 300/350 Super Stock engine that was dyno'd Saturday. It's not the final sheet, but maybe I can start a thread, lay out what the heads flow and CSA, and let people tell us how it's possible!
Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
I think after new trans and some tuning you will really like it. Till you get used to it and want more... again.
